What each NHL bet means, and where to see every sportsbook's price on the same game side by side.
The three bets on every game
- Moneyline
- Which team wins the game. There is no margin to cover.
- Puck line
- Hockey's point spread, almost always 1.5 goals: the favourite has to win by two, and the underdog can lose by one and the bet still wins.
- Total (over/under)
- Both teams' goals added together, over or under the number the sportsbook posts.
Where NHL prices tend to be off
Nothing moves an NHL price like the starting goalie: a confirmed starter, or a late switch to the backup, can shift a game's price sharply within minutes.
Player bets — shots on goal, points (goals plus assists), goalie saves — get far less attention from sportsbooks than the game lines, so their prices are off more often. Each one is compared to what we think it's really worth (fair odds), and anything priced better than that gets flagged.

Where do the prices come from?
Live prices from every major US sportsbook, checked against the markets that have proven hardest to beat — Pinnacle, Betfair, Kalshi and Polymarket — to estimate what each bet is really worth.
Does overtime count?
Yes. The winner, the puck line and the total all settle on the final score, overtime and the shootout included.
Are NHL totals beatable?
They get less modelling effort from sportsbooks than NFL or NBA totals, and travel and back-to-back fatigue are easy to misjudge. That is a reason to compare prices, not a promise: any single bet can lose.
