FanDuel vs BetMGM: Odds and Juice Compared

Two of the biggest US books, compared on price rather than app polish. We measure the hold each book bakes into its own two-way markets and how often each posts the better number head-to-head.

FanDuel and BetMGM sell the same product with different margins. The parlay ads and the odds boosts are marketing; the number on the screen is the only thing that compounds over a season.

The table below is not an opinion. It reads our own odds snapshots from the last 24 hours, keeps the latest quote per selection per book, and computes each book's two-way hold plus the head-to-head best-price rate on selections both books quoted.

Honest caveat: FanDuel's parlay product, live betting interface and same-game correlation pricing are genuinely slicker than BetMGM's, and BetMGM's rewards programme is more generous if you play in a partner casino. Neither of those changes the price you get.

Which book prices tighter, by market

Measured from our own odds snapshots over the last 24 hours. Hold is the two-way vig baked into each book's own pair of prices — lower is tighter, and tighter is money in your pocket. "Best price" counts head-to-head selections where that book posted the better number.

FAQ

Does FanDuel or BetMGM have better odds?

It depends on the market and the night. FanDuel usually holds a little tighter on NFL and NBA sides; BetMGM is often the better number on totals and secondary leagues. The live table above shows the current 24-hour measurement for both.

What is 'juice' or 'hold' on a sportsbook?

Hold is the vig baked into a book's own two-way pair. If a book posts -110/-110, the implied probabilities sum to about 104.8%, so the hold is roughly 4.8%. Lower hold means you keep more of your edge.

Should I have both a FanDuel and a BetMGM account?

Yes. Line shopping is the highest-leverage move in betting. Even when one book is tighter on average, the other posts the best available price on a meaningful share of selections — the head-to-head column above quantifies exactly that.

Which book is better for parlays?

Neither is 'good' for parlays — the hold compounds on every leg. If you are building one anyway, price it first in our parlay calculator so you can see the fair payout versus what each book is offering.

Does Parlae get paid to rank one of them higher?

Our ranking logic reads de-vigged EV and conviction only; payout fields are excluded from every comparator by construction and covered by a golden test. See /how-we-make-money.
