Week 4 waiver wire pickups ranked by workload: Ollie Gordon leads after the Achane injury

Week 4 waiver wire claims ranked by snaps, targets and carries. Ollie Gordon had 77% of Miami's carries in Week 3, and De'Von Achane is out for the season.

The Week 4 claim is Ollie Gordon, because the work is already his

Ollie Gordon is the top claim on the Week 4 waiver wire, and the reason is not his 14.5 points. Miami's backfield was already his on Sunday. De'Von Achane tore his ACL and is out for the season (Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport). Achane played 4 snaps in Week 3 before he left. Gordon played 61 of Miami's 73 (84%), took 17 of the 22 carries its backs and receivers had (77%), plus 3 red zone carries.

Sleeper leagues moved first. Gordon was added in 3,984,463 of them in the busiest 24 hours of this waiver cycle, per our Week 4 waiver wire at 3:37 PM ET, nearly five times the next player. He went undrafted in most leagues, so our FAAB model prints "Claim, no bid" for him rather than a number it would have to invent.

Three cautions. His 17 carries went for 41 yards, 2.4 a carry. The depth behind him is thin but not empty: Jaylen Wright is day to day with a stinger and a foot issue (coach Jeff Hafley), and Jarquez Hunter is on the practice squad (Schefter). And Sleeper listed Gordon himself as Questionable, undisclosed, at 3:50 PM ET. Miami plays at Minnesota as a 10 point underdog, and the 38.5 total is tied for the lowest of the week, a game script that can cut into running back volume.

Source: Sleeper Week 3 stats and our waiver page, both read at 3:50 PM ET. The bid is the share of a season FAAB budget our model puts on the player this week.

Jordan Addison, Vikings. 58 of 59 snaps and 9 of Minnesota's 25 targets, 36%, the biggest share on this list. Justin Jefferson left after 7 snaps with an ankle sprain, and Rapoport says he has a chance to play Sunday. If Jefferson plays, Addison's share should shrink. He was drafted (ADP 99), so check that he is free in your league.

Malik Washington, Dolphins. 86% of snaps and 29% of Miami's targets, plus 2 carries. None of his 11.1 points came from a touchdown, which makes it the most purely volume built line here.

Matthew Golden, Packers. 82% of snaps, 12 targets and 100 yards. He is not on the Week 4 claims page, so the model has no bid for him; if he is free in your league, the snap share is the reason to look.

Keenan Allen, Colts. 73% of snaps and 26% of the targets; the touchdown was 6 of his 18.3 points. The Colts and Commanders kick off at 9:30 AM ET Sunday, before the rest of the slate.

Tyler Higbee and the Rams. Rapoport says Puka Nacua may not play Week 4. Nacua was also out in Week 3, so that game shows the shape without him: Davante Adams drew 27% of the targets, Higbee 22% on 71% of snaps, Konata Mumpfield 16%. Terrance Ferguson played 22 snaps for 2 targets and is listed Questionable (ankle), yet drew 605,752 adds to Higbee's 49,761. The adds are pointed at the tight end who played less.

Kenyon Sadiq, Jets. Second in adds after 7 catches for 105 yards. The work was real but part time: 58% of snaps.

Roles that injuries opened

Braelon Allen, Jets. Breece Hall is week to week with a quad injury (Rapoport and Schefter). Hall had 13 of the Jets' 17 carries in Week 3, 76%; Allen had 4. Isaiah Davis is also on the depth chart, so claiming Allen is a bet that he inherits Hall's work.

Alvin Kamara, Saints. Travis Etienne Jr. will miss time with a hamstring injury, per Saints coach Kellen Moore. Etienne had 48% of the carries to Kamara's 33%. Kamara's 124,112 adds are nearly matched by 109,192 drops, so leagues are split on him. New Orleans hosts Atlanta on Monday night.

Austin Ekeler, Commanders. Back on Washington's 53 man roster (Rapoport and Mike Garafolo), though Sleeper still listed him without a team. Jacory Croskey-Merritt had 70% of Washington's carries in Week 3, so Ekeler's share is unknown until Sunday.

Two returns could shrink roles: Nico Collins is hopeful for Week 4 (DeMeco Ryans), and Jalen Coker is questionable with a minor quad strain (Rapoport). Tyreek Hill is third in adds, but Sleeper lists him with no team.

Streaming quarterbacks after Mayfield and Dart

Baker Mayfield dislocated his right thumb. There is no fracture and no ligament or tendon damage, but Todd Bowles says he is out at least three weeks, and Jalon Daniels starts (Schefter, Tom Pelissero, Rapoport). Jaxson Dart is out for the regular season, and the Giants acquired J.J. McCarthy from Minnesota for a 2027 fifth round pick (Schefter, Rapoport, Garafolo). Sleeper's depth chart at 3:50 PM ET still had Jameis Winston first for the Giants and McCarthy third, so a McCarthy claim is a bet on that order changing.

There are no byes in Week 4. The quarterbacks being added most, with the Week 4 game total:

  • Kirk Cousins, Raiders: 248 yards, 3 TD, 22.2 points. Hosts Kansas City, total 47.5.
  • Sam Darnold, Seahawks: 379 yards, 4 TD, 2 INT, 29.7 points, the second best Week 3 quarterback score so far. Hosts the Chargers, total 43.5.
  • Deshaun Watson, Browns: 2 TD passes plus 45 rushing yards, 20.3 points. Plays Pittsburgh Thursday, total 38.5, so the claim must clear first.
  • Tyler Shough, Saints: 255 yards, 4 TD, 24.8 points. Hosts Atlanta Monday night, total 48.5.
  • Marcus Mariota, Commanders: 183 yards, 3 TD, 20.4 points. Plays the Colts at 9:30 AM ET, total 47.5.
  • Jalon Daniels, Buccaneers: 3 passes in relief in Week 3. Hosts Green Bay, total 39.5.

A total is the betting market's estimate of combined points: the game environment, not who plays well in it.

What the adds count means

The adds figure counts add transactions in Sleeper leagues only. It is not a percentage rostered. The Week 3 recap had Gordon at 2,050,580 adds over 48 hours at 9:05 AM ET; the waiver page had 3,984,463 in its busiest 24 hours by 3:37 PM ET. Both climb through Monday as news lands. Adds follow news and points faster than workload, which is how Ferguson outdrew Higbee twelve to one.

What to do with this

  1. Rank claims by share. Gordon's 77% of carries and Addison's 36% and Washington's 29% of targets are the biggest roles here; Addison's depends on Jefferson's ankle.
  2. Treat Braelon Allen, Kamara and Ekeler as role bets, and check the injury report before Watson's Thursday game and the 9:30 AM Sunday kickoff lock.
  3. Set the lineup once claims clear with start or sit, and price bids with the FAAB guide. Eagles at Bears is not final, so neither team's players are in this Week 3 data.
