If Freddie Mercury played golf: rated 87, best at putting
Freddie Mercury would be a golfer rated 87 in Legends Draft Golf, the parody game where famous people play golf. Best attribute: putting (94). The course that suits Freddie Mercury best is The Spring Major, which leans on putting and short game. A big stage golfer who putts beautifully. Putting and nerve top his card together, and driving is the one real weakness.

Freddie Mercury as a golfer: scouting report
Freddie Mercury owned the biggest stage of his era. Queen's short set at Live Aid in 1985 is still remembered as one of the great live performances in rock history, and a man who held a packed Wembley Stadium in the palm of his hand would treat the eighteenth green on Sunday as home ground. His nerve shares the top spot on his golf card with his putting. When the gallery goes quiet, he gets better.
The putting fits the musician. Bohemian Rhapsody moves through ballad, opera and hard rock without a wasted note, and that kind of control over pace and rhythm is exactly what a great lag putter needs. His iron play is also excellent, so he gives himself plenty of birdie chances, and his short game is a strong safety net when he misses. He studied graphic art before Queen took off and designed the band's crest himself, and that eye for shape and line would help him see the break on a green before anyone else does.
Driving is the soft spot. He is not short, but he is not one of the bombers either, and The Long Course Championship, where length matters most, is his worst fit. The Spring Major is his best. Fast greens, approach shots into tight targets and a back nine where the crowd noise rolls through the trees all suit a precise iron player with a magic putter and a showman's nerve. Take him early. He is a scorer you can build a whole roster around.
