Keanu Reeves as a soccer player: scouting report

Keanu Reeves plays fullback, and yes, he starred in a film called Speed. The real case starts on the ice, though: growing up in Toronto he played hockey as a goaltender in high school, so he understands the defensive side of a game long before he ever touches a ball. A fullback has to defend first and then fly forward, and that mix of discipline and speed fits him well.

Pace is the best part of his card and dribbling is right behind it. Picture the overlapping run down the line, the drop of the shoulder past a winger and the cross whipped in from the byline. He trained for months in martial arts for The Matrix and has done much of his own fight work in the John Wick films, and that balance and timing shows in how he slides in for a tackle and is back up before the winger has looked up. His defending holds firm, so a manager can trust him against a quick wide forward. He also cofounded a motorcycle company, so he is used to going fast on two wheels; on two feet he is not much slower.

Shooting is the soft spot, which barely matters at fullback, where the job is to supply rather than finish. Goalkeeping is close behind his dribbling, which fits the hockey history, and keeper is a genuine fallback. Winger also works if you need speed up top. Draft him to play behind a creative winger who likes to drift inside, and let him own the whole flank from box to box.
