Pokémon and Disney card gifts for kids: packs, tins and starter decks

For a kid who would rather play a card game than collect a team, give Pokémon or Disney Lorcana. A beginner starts with a box built to teach the game, like Pokémon Trading Card Game: Battle Academy (2024); a kid who already plays wants an Elite Trainer Box, a tin or booster packs from the newest set. Add sleeves, a deck box and a binder. Every pick is a current product with its budget tier, and every name opens Amazon.

Budget tiers use typical retail as of October 18, 2026; prices change.

Pokémon card gifts

Starter boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes, tins and booster bundles from the current sets, cheapest first.

Disney Lorcana gifts

Ravensburger's Disney card game: starter decks, booster packs and gift sets, cheapest first.

Four things to know before you buy

  • Pick the game they already play or watch. Pokémon is the bigger game; Disney Lorcana suits a kid who loves the films.
  • For a first gift, a box built for beginners (a starter deck or Battle Academy) teaches the game; booster packs and tins are for a kid who already plays.
  • Add sleeves and a deck box so their deck survives the playground, and a binder for the cards they keep.
  • New Pokémon boxes often sell above list for a while after release. The tiers here use list price at the big stores; a marketplace seller asking far more is not the same deal.

Questions

What Pokémon cards should I buy a beginner?
A box made to teach the game, such as Pokémon Trading Card Game: Battle Academy (2024): it holds ready-to-play decks and a guide to the rules. Once they know how to play, an Elite Trainer Box or a booster bundle from the newest set adds packs to open.
What is Disney Lorcana?
A trading card game from Ravensburger in which players build decks of Disney characters. Each set comes as starter decks, booster packs and gift sets.
Pokémon vs Lorcana for kids: which should I buy?
Pick the one they know. Pokémon is the bigger game with more friends to play, and its starter boxes are made for young beginners; Lorcana suits a kid who loves the Disney films. Both come with ready-to-play starter decks.
What else do card game players need?
Card sleeves to protect the deck while they play, a deck box to carry it, and a 9-pocket binder for the cards they keep.
