Seeds 1 to 4 are the division leaders; 5 to 7 are the wild cards. Below the line: the hunt, in tiebreaker order. GB is games behind the 7 seed.
No club has clinched a spot or been eliminated yet. Flags appear only when no remaining result can change them.
How the seeds are worked out
- Every club is ordered by win percentage, a tie counting as half a win, from every final regular-season score.
- Inside a division, a tie is broken by head-to-head, then division record, record in common games, conference record, strength of victory, strength of schedule, the points-scored and points-allowed rankings, and net points.
- The four division leaders take seeds 1 to 4 and the next three clubs take 5 to 7. Clubs from different divisions are separated by head-to-head (with three or more clubs only a sweep counts), conference record, common games (at least four), strength of victory, strength of schedule, the points rankings and net points. Only the best-placed club of each division stays in a wild card tie.
- The next step, net touchdowns, needs scoring plays this page does not read; a tie that got that far would be listed by name, and the page would say so.
- Left is games remaining and the opponents' win percentage now, ranked across the league (1 = hardest), with their average power score from this week's NFL power rankings.

Common questions
Who would make the NFL playoffs if the season ended today?
AFC: Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders. NFC: San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions. The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers would have the first-round byes.
How are NFL playoff tiebreakers decided?
Inside a division: head-to-head, then division record, record in common games, conference record, strength of victory and strength of schedule. Between clubs from different divisions: head-to-head (with three or more clubs, only a sweep counts), conference record, common games (at least four), strength of victory and strength of schedule. Before a wild card tie is broken, only the best-placed club of each division stays in it.
How many teams make the NFL playoffs?
Fourteen, seven from each conference: the four division winners as seeds 1 to 4 and three wild cards as seeds 5 to 7. Only the No. 1 seed in each conference skips the first round.
When does this page mark a team clinched or eliminated?
Only when no combination of the remaining results changes it, with every tie counted against the club. That can put a flag here a week after other sites show one, but a flag here is never wrong.
