Gifts for sports fans: Christmas ideas for every team and budget

The best gift for a sports fan is their team: an official jersey, hat or hoodie of the club they follow, or a rookie card of their favorite player. Below, each NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL team's gear link opens its official store page, and the bigger card gifts for each league follow. For a smaller budget, see our gifts for sports fans under $50 and stocking stuffers under $25.

Budget tiers use typical retail read October 18 to October 27, 2026; prices change.

What to get a sports fan

  • They wear the team: a jersey of their favorite player, or a hat when you do not know their size.
  • They follow one league: our football, basketball, baseball and hockey fan guides go team by team.
  • They collect: a box of this season's cards to open, or a rookie card of the player they root for.
  • A smaller budget: gifts under $50 and stocking stuffers under $25 each have their own page.

Three things to know before you buy

  • Match the team first, then the player: a jersey or a rookie card of their favorite player is the most personal pick.
  • No size to guess: a hat, a card box or a rookie card fits everyone. For a hoodie or a jersey, check the store's size chart.
  • Retail card boxes are sold at Target, Walmart and Amazon; hobby boxes through card shops and the makers' own sites.

How to choose a gift for a sports fan

Start with the team, not the sport. A fan follows one club, and anything with that club's logo beats a general sports gift; a rival's jersey stays in the drawer. If you are not sure of their team, a card box is the safe choice, since a set features players from across the league.

Jerseys and hoodies come in more than one cut, and the store lists each with its size chart. If you know the player they like, check that he is still on that team before you order his name and number: trades and signings move players during the season.

For a fan who has everything, a rookie card of their favorite player is personal and small enough to mail. Each card guide on Parlae names the player's rookie card from a sourced checklist.

Order early. USPS recommends mailing by December 17 for Ground Advantage delivery by Christmas (lower 48), and a custom jersey takes longer to make.

Questions

What do you get a sports fan who has everything?
A rookie card of their favorite player, or a hobby box of this season's cards for the league they follow. Both are personal, and neither duplicates gear they already own.
What is a good gift for a sports fan under $50?
A retail card box of their league, like the 2026 Topps Football Mega Box. Our gifts for sports fans under $50 page lists every pick in that tier.
What can I give a sports fan if I do not know their size?
A hat, a card box or a rookie card: none needs a size. Hoodies and jerseys are cut differently by maker, so check the store's size chart first.
When is Black Friday 2026?
Friday, November 27, 2026. Cyber Monday is November 30, 2026. Team gear and retail card boxes are the usual Black Friday markdowns.
When should I order for Christmas delivery?
USPS recommends mailing by December 17 for Ground Advantage and December 18 for Priority Mail for delivery by Christmas (lower 48). A jersey with a custom name and number takes longer to make, so order it first.
