The week at a glance
The 2026-27 season's first full week runs Monday, Oct 19, through Sunday, Oct 25. There is no game on the Monday, so the week plays out over six days and 43 games. One team, Philadelphia, plays 4 games. Five teams -- Boston, Cleveland, Denver, Phoenix and Portland -- play only 2. The other 24 teams play 3.
| Day | Games | Teams playing |

Two days are light. Tuesday has only 6 teams playing and Thursday has 4 (Cleveland, Philadelphia, Denver, Oklahoma City). In a daily-lineup league, a player on one of those nights fills a roster spot that would otherwise sit empty. Two days are heavy: Wednesday (22 teams) and Friday (24 teams), when most rosters already have a game and a deep bench gets squeezed.
Who actually fits the gaps
A 4-game team or a light-day regular is only useful if he is rostered low enough to add. The list below pulls directly from this week's ranked waiver adds, keeping only players who are active (not listed Out) and get 3 or more games in week one -- the group a 2-game team's bench cannot match.
| Player | Team | Pos | Week 1 games | Back-to-back | Why he fits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jeremiah Fears | NOP | PG | 3 | Yes | Minutes up to 39.4 over his last 5 games of 2025-26, against 25.8 on the board |
| Rui Hachimura | LAC | PF | 3 | No | Minutes up to 30.8 over his last 5; teammate Brandon Ingram (#46) is Out (Heel) |
| Davion Mitchell | MIA | PG | 3 | Yes | Steady minutes, 3 games with one back-to-back |
| Tre Jones | CHI | SG | 3 | Yes | Steady minutes, 3 games with one back-to-back |
| Leonard Miller | CHI | PF | 3 | Yes | Minutes up to 34.1 over his last 5, against 15.6 on the board |
| Saddiq Bey | NOP | SF | 3 | Yes | Full role back; 3 games with one back-to-back |
| Sandro Mamukelashvili | LAL | C | 3 | No | 3 games, no back-to-back |
| Isaiah Jackson | LAC | C | 3 | No | Teammate Brandon Ingram (#46) is Out (Heel), opening frontcourt minutes |
| Cason Wallace | OKC | SG | 3 | No | 3 games, no back-to-back, steady role on a deep roster |
| Precious Achiuwa | SAC | PF | 3 | No | Minutes up to 27.8 over his last 5; teammate Maxime Raynaud (#135) is Out (Knee) |

"Minutes up" compares a player's average over his last 5 games of 2025-26 to his season-long average on the Parlae board.
Jeremiah Fears and Rui Hachimura stand out for the same reason: both carry a role bump from last season's final stretch into a week with a full game count. Fears averaged 39.4 minutes a game late, more than 13 above his season line, while New Orleans also returns Saddiq Bey to the same 3-game slate. Hachimura and Isaiah Jackson both benefit from Brandon Ingram's Out (Heel) tag on the Clippers, who also play 3 games this week.
Two more are worth a mention but come with a caveat. Dejounte Murray (New Orleans, PG) gets the same 3 games and a back-to-back as his teammates Fears and Bey, but carries a day-to-day toe designation today -- check his status before the week starts. Khaman Maluach (Phoenix, C) is a minutes riser, up to 14.2 from 8.9 on the board with Mark Williams out, but Phoenix is one of the week's five 2-game teams, so his ceiling is lower than the players above regardless of role.
Who the 2-game teams cost you
Boston, Cleveland, Denver, Phoenix and Portland play only 2 games apiece. A roster leaning on Nikola Jokić, Donovan Mitchell or Devin Booker gets fewer counting-stat opportunities than one built around a 3- or 4-game player at a similar price, for this week only. It is not a reason to bench or trade a star -- see who to draft first overall for how little one week should move a draft-day grade -- but it is a reason to lean on a streamer from the table above in a daily-lineup format, rather than a bench player stuck on a 2-game team.
Philadelphia's four games
Philadelphia is the week's only 4-game team, closing with a back-to-back: Milwaukee at home Saturday, then Detroit at home Sunday. That is also where the caution sign goes up. Philadelphia's own rotation carries rest designations for veterans on back-to-backs, so a 4-game team does not guarantee a 4-game role player; it guarantees a 4-game opportunity. Check the injury page the morning each game is played, not once at the start of the week.
How to use this before your first matchup
- Light days first. If your league plays daily lineups, prioritize filling Tuesday and Thursday before worrying about who starts on the heavy nights.
- Add from the table, not just the schedule. A 3-game team means nothing if the player you add is buried on the bench; every name above already has a role note tied to it.
- Recheck injury tags before locking a lineup. Day-to-day and rest designations change daily in the season's first week; the injury page and waiver wire both update from the same feed this guide uses.
- Keep the long view. One light or heavy week does not change a player's rank; the points rankings and the schedule guide carry the full season's back-to-backs if you want to plan further ahead.
