Week 7 Waiver Wire: Bernard, Allen and Mayer Lead

Week 7 waiver claims ranked by Week 6 target and carry share. Germie Bernard drew 27% of Pittsburgh's targets; Omar Cooper, the top add, is one game.

Rank the claims by work, then look at the adds

Sleeper's trending list counts adds across Sleeper leagues in the last 48 hours. It measures attention, and attention follows touchdowns faster than roles. So the order below starts with what each player did in Week 6 (his share of the team's targets or carries), then how steady that share has been, and only then the adds.

Buffalo, Jacksonville, the Chargers and Washington are on a bye in Week 7. That removes Rachaad White (160,227 adds, 15.7 PPR points), Brenton Strange, Keon Coleman (363,123) and Khalil Shakir (202,104) from this week's list, however good their Week 6 was.

The top four, and why

Germie Bernard, Steelers. Twelve of Pittsburgh's 44 targets and 74 of 79 snaps. Roman Wilson is on injured reserve with a finger injury. Bernard's targets by week are none in Week 1, then 8, 1, 2, 9 and 12, so the last two weeks are the whole case. He is at New Orleans at 1:30 PM ET on Sunday.

Keenan Allen, Colts. The highest share on the list, 29%, and the steadiest: 6, 5, 9, no game in Week 4, 9 and 11. He plays 71% of the snaps, fewer than the others near the top, because Josh Downs (71 snaps, 8 targets) and Laquon Treadwell (77 snaps) are also on the field. Sleeper projects him for only 2.2 PPR points in Week 7, which does not square with his target history, so treat that projection with caution.

Michael Mayer, Raiders. Nine of Las Vegas's 39 targets, matching Brock Bowers's 9. Mayer's weekly targets are 7, 4, 3, 10, 1 and 9, so he is volatile but has had 9 or more in two of six. He has 547,983 adds. Las Vegas hosts the Rams.

Dameon Pierce, Eagles. Twelve carries was every carry that Philadelphia's backs, receivers and tight ends had, and he played 61 of 64 snaps. Saquon Barkley is still listed Out with a hamstring injury; Carson Steele, Questionable, played 3 snaps. Pierce carried 11 times in Week 5 and 12 in Week 6, and the 12 for 35 yards shows a role, not efficiency. Dallas visits Monday night (8:15 PM ET), the same game as Ryan Flournoy, who is also a claim on this list.

The rest of the list

Ryan Flournoy, Cowboys. Nine targets (18%) in a passing offense that drew 51 in total, with CeeDee Lamb at 18 and George Pickens at 11. His weekly targets are 4, 6, 8, 5, 4 and 9, so a floor of 4.

Tre Tucker, Raiders. The 26.7 points were two touchdowns on 5 catches. The usable part is the volume: 4, 7, 4, 8, 5 and 7 targets. His other five weeks scored 4.7, 22.9, 8.3, 8.4 and 7.5.

Kyle Pitts, Falcons. Targets by week of 1, 3, 2, 3, 6 and 7, climbing, and 78% of the snaps. Two touchdowns produced most of the 23.0. Atlanta hosts San Francisco.

Pierre Strong, Packers. Half of Green Bay's carries and 6 targets, but only 55% of the snaps. MarShawn Lloyd had 8 carries and 1.0 points on 30 snaps, and Josh Jacobs is still listed with a personal designation. Green Bay is at Detroit.

Jaleel McLaughlin, Browns. His 9 carries were matched by Audric Estime's 9 (7.9 points with a touchdown), so this is a split. McLaughlin's edge is the 4 targets and 39 snaps. Cleveland is at Tennessee.

Cooper leads the whole list by a wide margin, and his 24% target share is real, but a role with one game behind it is a reason to bid less, and the add count is no evidence of a role. Johnson is the other one to watch: Chicago hosts New England on Thursday night, and Kyle Monangai is listed Out with a toe injury.

Quarterbacks

Kyler Murray (558,784 adds) has no Week 6 line because Minnesota was on bye; Sleeper projects him for 20.3 PPR points at home against Indianapolis. Among the quarterbacks who did play:

  • Tyler Shough, Saints: 16 of 30 for 144 yards and 3 TD, plus a rushing touchdown, 27.0 points; 19.5 per game over six weeks.
  • C.J. Stroud, Texans: 24 of 34 for 312 yards, 3 TD and an interception, 24.0 points; 18.9 per game.
  • Kirk Cousins, Raiders: 23 of 41 for 313 yards, 2 TD and an interception, 19.5 points; 19.3 per game.

What to do with this

  1. File the claims in share order: Bernard and Allen first, then Mayer and Pierce. Price bids with the FAAB guide instead of using the add counts.
  2. Check Wednesday's practice reports for Barkley and Monangai. Each one changes the value of a back on this list, and the Thursday game starts the week.
  3. Check the Week 7 rankings and the injury report before you start anyone you claim. Last week's version of this guide is here.
