What is the difference between a hobby box and a blaster box?

A hobby box is sold through hobby shops and the maker's site, and the maker usually states guaranteed hits per box; a blaster is a smaller retail box sold at big-box and online stores. In the boxes on this page, hobby boxes hold 60 to 240 cards and blaster, mega, hanger and value boxes 15 to 224, per the makers' own pages.

Which box should I open for rookie cards?

Every format of a set carries the same base rookie cards; formats differ in pack count, guaranteed hits and format-only parallels, which each box page lists from the maker's own page.
